Prof. Dr. Koichi KURIYAMA

Koichi Kuriyama is a professor of Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University. He was born in Osaka prefecture in 1967. He graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture, Kyoto University in 1992 and received Ph.D. in Agriculture in 1997 from Kyoto University. He previously served on the faculty at the Hokkaido University, Waseda University, and as a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. He has been in his current position since 2009. Professor Kuriyama is an environmental and resource economist, and his research is focused on the estimation of the value of biodiversity. His research has been published in journals of sustainability science (Nature Sustainability and Sustainability Scinece), environmental and resource economics (Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Environmental and Resource Economics, and Ecological Economics), agricultural and forest economics (American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Land Economics, and Journal of Forest Economics), tourism science (Tourism Management), transportation research (Transportation Research Part B), and others. Professor Kuriyama was the president of the Society for Environmental Economics and Policy Studies (SEEPS) from April 2020 to March 2022. He has received Japanese Forest Society Award in 2001 and Outstanding Publication Award from the Society for Environmental Economics and Policy Studies in 2018.
